Microgovernance Research Initiative (MGR), University of Dhaka, in partnership with the International Foundation for Electoral System (IFES) and supported by USAID, is going to offer an innovative and interactive university level extracurricular civic education course ‘Democracy: from Theory to Practice’ for the Summer 2025 (in-person). You are invited to submit application for enrolment by 20 January 2025. Selected participants will be communicated for further processing. (Students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of Bachelor program can apply for this course.)
Course Objectives:
This course intends to focus where, when and how do citizens develop the ability to defend ‘their’ and ‘others’ rights and responsibilities, to value diversity, champion equal opportunities, and to play an active part in democratic life. The principle of this course is ‘democratic citizens are made not born and today, more than ever before, citizens must be equipped to face the challenges of disinformation, exclusion, and populism. The course will introduce interactive, civic education teaching methodology into the classroom by creating a student-centered classroom environment.
