The second round of the ‘Contest: Art Against Dangerous Speech’ was held on 10 September 2022 with 10 shortlisted participants. Ten participants presented their stories and the motivation behind their artwork to counter dangerous and harmful content. In addition, two learning and grooming sessions were delivered on the social media strategies and essentials of countering dangerous speech online.
Fariha Sultana from Sheikh Hasina Medical College (SHMC), Jamalpur, Nafisa Islam from Dhaka University (DU), Farjana Asha from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) Gopalganj, Ridwanul Islam from Islamic University (IU, Kushtia), and Nurullah Sayem from Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur have been selected as the top five finalists. They will be presenting their ideas and the story behind the artwork in the final round in front of the judges.
SAVE Youth Bangladesh is organizing this art contest in partnership with the Resiliency Initiative (RI), and support from Meta (Facebook) and the Asia Foundation (TAF). The key purpose of this initiative is to build awareness and youth proactiveness against all forms of dangerous speeches in social media. As a part of the social media campaign, this art contest has been organized where youth participants from several universities submitted their artworks. The final round of the art contest will be held in the third week of September 2022.
