Halima Binte Islam, Research analyst of Microgovernance Research Initiative will be leaving for the USA on the 5th of November to attend FES New York Fall Academy 2022 on “The New World Disorder? The prospects for multilateral responses in a world in crisis” arranged by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) New York. The Fall Academy will take place in New York from Sunday, November 6, 2022. There will be 17 international young leaders from different countries around the world. Ms. Halima is participating in the program as a representative of Bangladesh.
The Fall Academy is a training organized by the FES Office in New York. Participants are young policymakers from FES’ worldwide partner network. The 2022 FES New York Fall Academy will take place against the backdrop of several unfolding global crises (climate change, war in Ukraine, post-Covid economic recovery, and cost hikes for food and energy). Participants will receive first-hand information from international political experts, diplomats, and UN officials on how these challenges are addressed by international diplomacy and through cooperation at the United Nations. The academy will provide an excellent opportunity to understand the politics and policies of the UN as it grapples with the consequences of the war in Ukraine, the recovery from Covid-19, and the challenges for sustainable development.
At the beginning of the program, the participants will present their biggest concerns and hope for the future. Later, there will be some round table discussions, group discussions, a guided private UN Tour, and a presentation of individual papers.
After this training, the young leaders will learn about the politics and policies of the United Nations as it grapples with the consequences of the war in Ukraine, the recovery from Covid-19, and the challenges for sustainable development.
